Hi Molly and Mathew:
Howdy from SW Washington. I’ve had a few exchanges with Carol, both EcoSan participants. She gave me your blog address. Interesting website and project. I wish you well bringing greater awareness of composting to the urban scene.
I didn’t see any link on your website to The Humanure Handbook. But I noticed that your poster on Where Humans Go identified bucket collection systems as quite effective. That’s precisely the method promoted by Joe Jenkins in his excellent book. Spread the word. Use the bucket.

You did an amazing job at the PC convergence!
I sat in on your Sun evaluation group. As I mentioned then, I work with various music festivals in western Colorado in the summer. I’d like to see/help you develop a model composting toilet that could fit into a standard plastic “Porta Potty” and have a back hatch door in them that would allow workers to empty (then replace) them once a day into a large dump truck of sorts. I’d love to have about 3-5 prototypes of these that we could use next year by the beginning of June. Let’s stay in touch.
I’m including the web address of the coalition that I work with that is responsible for the ecological side of these festivals.
Where can I get the mechanical details on the tap up handwasher?
